Chapter 174
So, Jerome didn’t just give Mikayla the pair of earrings that was meant for Kylie.
It seemed like he bought two pairs, and gave them separately to both of them.
This thought made Mikayla nauseous.
“Ms. White, your earrings are stunning,” she drawled suggestively.
“Really?” Kylie’s fingers grazed past her earrings.
A smile played on her lips as she murmured, “Someone gave me this. I didn’t expect him to remember that my favorite flower is orchids.”
“Orchids look particularly graceful. They’re a perfect match for you, Ms. White.” Mikayla took a quick turn after flattering Kylie. “What a coincidence, though. I have a similar pair, and I’ve looked into the price. It’s around 200 thousand dollars.”
“I didn’t know that!” Kylie seemed surprised. “Jerome–I mean, Mrs. Miller, do you like
orchids as well?”
“It doesn’t matter whether I like orchids or not. It seems like Jerome gave this to you?”
Mikayla asked curtly.
Kylie’s smile was unwavering as she remained silent.
“If he gave this to you, then please return it now.” Mikayla gave no heed to Kylie’s.
dumbstruck expression.
She smiled as she continued, “We’re a married couple. The amount he spent on the pair of earrings belongs to our joint assets. That means he spent 200 thousand dollars on a gift for you without my consent. Thus, you’re required to return it. Otherwise, transfer me half of
the amount–100 thousand dollars.”
Kylie was flabbergasted.
She knew Jerome absolutely wouldn’t tell Mikayla that she bought the earrings.
She was certain that Mikayla would be reminded of the same pair of earrings once she hinted that her earrings were from Jerome as well.
Once Mikayla plunged into sorrow, she would resort to humiliate Kylie, or she might even quarrel with Jerome in a fit of rage.
A fight was bound to happen nonetheless.
Little did she expect, Mikayla kept her composure.
She even offered to let Kylie compensate her with 100 thousand dollars.
“Ms. White, so are you going to return the earrings or the money?” she asked.
“Mrs. Miller, what do you think Jerome would feel about this if he finds out?”
“I don’t care. I’m just practicing my rights.”
Kylie protested.
“Mrs. Miller, I bought this pair of earrings. It has nothing to do with Jerome.”
“Fine, I understand. You don’t want to give me the money, do you? Give me a second.” Mikayla whisked out her phone. “I’ll call Jerome now, and I’ll ask him to give me 100 thousand dollars more once we get divorced. You can be our witness.”
“No!”
Kylie couldn’t afford to let Jerome know about this.
He was already upset because of her photo last time.
If he found out that she deliberately led Mikayla on believing that he gave her the pair of
earrings, he’d be furious.
Kylie ground her jaw.
“I’ll transfer 100 thousand dollars to you.
Though she was well off, she couldn’t help but feel irritated at the thought that she had to transfer 100 thousand dollars to Mikayla.
Feigning ignorance, Kylie asked airily, “Mrs. Miller, why aren’t you wearing the earrings?”
“I didn’t like them, so I sold them.”
Kylie’s breath hitched.
Did Mikayla actually sell the pair of earrings Jerome gave her, when she was supposed to treat them as her most prized possession?
“Received with thanks, Ms. White. Try to recall whether Jerome has given you anything else, and calculate their total amount. Remember to transfer half of the price to me.”

Vile was speechless.
She didn’t expect Mikayla to change that much.
She kept her composure no matter what she did, and she no longer burst into a hysterical
fit.
Was this why Jerome’s opinion of Mikayla shifted a lot lately?
Kylie wondered what Mikayla was up to.
Who’d been coaching her?
After some thought, she decided to give Aubrey a call.
“I don’t care how you do it, I want you to rekindle your friendship with Mikayla again.”
She admitted that she’d looked down on Mikayla before, which explained why she was
cornered.
The only way out was to place spies next to her so she will be well informed of her actions.
Mikayla transferred 100 thousand dollars to Celeste.
“You mentioned that the hospital founded a charity organization? I’m donating 100
thousand dollars anonymously.”
“Thank you, my sweet angel! How can someone be so kind and gorgeous at the same
time? Bless you!”
“Stop it! Didn’t you want to meet up over lunch today? What time are we meeting?”
“I’m so sorry! My mother–in–law suddenly decided to visit some relatives today, so I can’t
make it…let’s meet next time!”
Mikayla felt fortunate that she didn’t have to deal with a chaotic mother–in–law like
Celeste’s.
After teasing her for quite a bit, she headed toward Baldwin’s office to meet him.
Baldwin was slightly surprised after Mikayla revealed her ideas to him.
had just briefed Ms. White from Bemhal Enterprise regarding the medicinal trials, and now you’re interested in the distribution rights. Did Mr. Miller sent you guys separately?”
“I’m doing this out of my own will. This has nothing to do with Jerome,” said Mikayla with a smile.
Baldwin figured she might be holding a grudge against him, so he didn’t pay it much. attention.
“Mrs. Miller, I’ll be honest with you. We’ve poured years of hard work in this, so I’m hoping to distribute it under the institute’s name.”
Mikayla understood where he was going, but there was one thing that went beyond her understanding.
If Kylie estimated the market value of the medicine through her investigation, how did she manage to persuade Baldwin to hand over the distribution rights to Jensen?
The investment fund Jensen acquired later wasn’t from Bernhal Enterprise, though.
Where did he get the money from?
Carter had a company, but it was impossible for him to come up with such a large sum of money based on his company’s scale and influence.
It was even more unrealistic to think that Kylie funded him out of her own pocket.
Did someone offer her help?
After acquiring several related materials from Baldwin, Mikayla trailed behind the staff to
take a tour at the lab.
She meant to bid goodbye to Baldwin after she had a better understanding of the entire situation.
Just as she approached the door, she spotted Jerome.
He was still dressed in a suit with his back facing the door.
He was seated on the couch where Baldwin would have his guests sit.
“Mr. Miller, your employee just came a few hours ago, yet you’re here now. Don’t you trust your staff?” Baldwin asked, a cheeky glint flickering in his eyes once he saw Mikayla at the door.
Jerome was unbothered.
“Of course I have to be more meticulous regarding issues at your research in
Xander.”
Baldwin chortled. “Oh? Aren’t you here because you heard your wife is here?”
