Mikayla suddenly remembered Jerome having a tie pin on when he held her last night.
It seemed like he specially wore a tie to match with the tie pin.
“Kay, Stephen said it’s all thanks to Jerome’s help that he succeeded in closing the deal. Clearly, he cares for your family because he loves you,” Eduard remarked, feeling relieved.
“Grandpa, I know you’re trying to help mend our relationship, but really, there’s no need for that.”
Mikayla’s expression grew solemn as she continued, “What you told me previously makes sense. I’m very stubborn, and it isn’t easy for me to give up. Similarly, I rarely change my decisions once I set my mind on it.
“I can’t manage to get rid of all my feelings for Jerome now, but I was enlightened. I was too reckless back then, and I went out of my way to acquire whatever I wanted.
“Little did I realize that it was impossible for me to grasp onto certain things, and I might even get hurt from them. So, our divorce doesn’t just grant Jerome freedom, but it allows me to be free as well.”
Sensing the somberness and sorrow in her eyes, Eduard’s heart ached.

“Grandpa, we’ll officially file for divorce after Grandma’s birthday.” Mikayla seized the chance to inform him about this.
Realizing that his effort to convince her was in vain, Eduard said, “Kay, I won’t stop you as long as you’ve thought this through.”
Mikayla felt like a weight had been lifted off her chest. “Thank you, Grandpa.”
Mikayla received a call from Wanda after she had dinner at Eduard’s..
“Kay, I told Jerome to ask you to come back for dinner tonight. Why didn’t you come?” Wanda chided.
It finally clicked that Jerome had been trying to tell her about the dinner invitation through his calls and their conversation in the car.
A wave of guilt washed over her as she muttered, “I was at Grandpa’s, so I couldn’t make it ou
time.”
“No worries. Jerome’s father will be back in a few days. You should come over with Jerome so we can meet over a meal.”
Wanda teased, “Didn’t you used to hint that you’re very confident in pleasing your in–laws? Your mother–in–law was caught up with something so she couldn’t make it back this time, but you will have the chance to meet your father–in–law!”
Mikayla was stunned.
In her previous life, Jerome’s parents didn’t return during Wanda’s birthday since they were busy.
