Jerome’s eyes darkened as they met Mikayla’s. “Do you think that’s a suitable time to answer that
question?”
She was hurling fruits at Kylie that time, and she looked like she was about to strangle her to death.
Her frenzy had his mind in a whirlwind, and he couldn’t even be bothered to answer her pushy questions.

“Celeste, here!” Her exclamation cut through his words like a whip. She waved at Celeste who was striding in from the entrance.
As Celeste approached, she greeted Jerome. “Mr. Miller, are you done with work already?”
Jerome nodded. “You guys go ahead. I’ll head over to that side.”
“What happened? You guys seem a bit tense,” Celeste said.
Mikayla didn’t keep it a secret and told Celeste about her conversation with Jerome.
“He’s worried that you might be mad at him. That’s why he explained what happened,” Celeste commented. “He has feelings for you, and he doesn’t want a divorce. I told you so.”
Mikayla rolled her eyes. “I don’t see how he has feelings for me. Even if he has, I won’t change my mind
about the divorce.”
Celeste could no longer help it. “Mikayla, you’ve loved him for ages, and you’ve finally got a chance now. Why are you backing off now? You know how popular he is with the ladies. Won’t you regret the divorce.

Mikayla shook her head firmly. “I won’t.”
She was saddled by regrets in her previous life.
She missed the chance to accompany Eduard, lost Minito Group, and failed to develop a career she loved because she was too infatuated with Jerome. She had no life of her own.
Now that she was blessed with another chance, she was determined to make up for her regrets.
Jerome was the last thing she had on her mind–she’d do anything to stay away from him.
“You can say whatever you want, but I refuse to believe that you’re completely unbothered!‘ Celeste was doubtful.
“I couldn’t care less.” Mikayla shifted the topic and said, “Why did Dr. Chance call you? Is he here already?”
“He’s on the way. He’ll be here in 30 minutes.”

“Do we need to wait for him to join us?”
“Nope. He ate at the hospital,” Celeste replied. “He has a strict routine, so he doesn’t eat that much during
dinner.”
“We should dig in first. Otherwise, you’ll leave me alone once Dr. Chance is here!” Mikayla quipped.
Celeste didn’t mind her teasing remark at all. “Sure.”
They stuffed themselves to the brim before Nolan arrived.
“Gosh, I’m bursting at the seams. Let’s have a stroll outside, and see whether Dr. Chance has arrived.” Mikayla suggested.
She just remembered she hadn’t met Nolan officially yet, and she decided that today was the day for them to get to know each other properly.
Celeste agreed.
They exited the restaurant, went through the corridor and hall before they finally left the resort.
Darkness began to settle in, and lights were lit all around the resort.
The unique architecture of the resort was bathed in a warm, yellow glow, evoking a tranquil sense of
comfort in them.
Groups of friends and a few intimate couples filled the space outside the resort.
“I’m going to do that with Nolan later,” Celeste announced.
Just then, she spotted a familiar figure ahead. “He’s here! Wait. Mikayla, look. Is that Jerome who’s standing next to Nolan? How did they know each other?”
