Chapter 95
The video call had actually connected! Mikayla was met with a pair of deep, dark eyes, staring at her
through the screen.
She was dumbfounded. Hadn’t she declined the call? Why was it connected?
In the midst of her confusion, she caught Jerome’s gaze shifting to her chest. She quickly regained her composure as her face flushed red.
“Pervert!” she yelled, slapping the phone off the table. It landed on the carpet with a soft thud.

How could she have pressed the wrong button? She should’ve checked her phone before grabbing her
gown!
The sheer embarrassment was overwhelming. Not to mention that rascal Jerome had shamelessly
watched her change without uttering a single sound!
As Mikayla lamented for her carelessness, she heard Jerome’s hoarse voice drifting out of the phone.
“I’ve got some matters to take care of. I have the driver come pick you up.” he said.
The call was still on! Fuming with anger, Mikayla hastily powered off her phone. After calming down, she
turned it back on and sent a message to Jerome.
“I’m bringing a friend to the banquet” she texted
“Who is it?” Jerome questioned.
“Not telling.” Mikayla replied
“Give me a good reason to say yes, Jerome demanded.
“You just peeped at me,” Mikayla declared confidently.
Jerome appeared startled by her words. A momentary pause hung in the air before he reminded her,” Don’t forget your responsibility as my partner.
“Yeah, yeah. Can’t forget it even if I tried,” Mikayla scoffed.
Jerome went silent after that, and Mikayla assumed he had agreed to her request.
The banquet took place in the classy ballroom at a five–star hotel. As soon as Mikayla stepped out of the car, Mike came over to greet her.
“Good evening, Mrs. Miller. Mr. Miller is currently attending to the directors of the Miller Group. Let me show you upstairs,” he offered
“No need to hurry. I’m waiting for someone,” Mikayla answered.
Looking puzzled, Mike asked, “Who are you waiting for? If it’s Ms. Saunders, she’s already in the ballroom.
“Not Aubrey.” Mikayla clarified as a black car approached.
She gestured toward the vehicle and added, “There she is.”
Mike turned around and saw a woman in her 40s dressed in a purple evening gown stepping out of the
black car.
When he saw her face, he was utterly surprised. The woman turned out to be Betty Reeves, the wife of the former CEO of Ansoft Enterprise and the current head of the company.
Mike had seen the guest list for the banquet. He was sure Ansoft Enterprise hadn’t received an invitation considering the recent scandal involving the company.
Moreover, Johnny’s affair was a blow to Bernhal Enterprise’s reputation.
The banquet tonight was attended by insiders who were well aware of the controversies surrounding Ansoft Enterprise. If anyone from the company attended, they would be the center of gossip.
Yet, Betty made an unexpected appearance, and Mikayla eagerly awaited her arrival.
“Betty! You look absolutely stunning tonight–so graceful and elegant. Your complexion is radiant,” Mikayla greeted with a warm smile
Betty responded with a hearty laugh, “I should be saying that to you, Mikayla. Just look at this figure and this waist–no celebrity can compare to you.”
“Thanks for the kind words. Ready to head in and impress the crowd?” Mikayla replied with a cheerful tone, she seemed to be close to Betty.
As they approached the entrance, Mikayla noticed Mike’s hesitant expression.
