Falling For My “Disabled” Wife Novel Chapter 104

Chapter 104

After breakfast, Marcus, Kenneth, and Timothy all went to work.

Only Bianca, Sophie, and Evelyn were quietly having their meal.

Just as they were about to finish eating, Wesley suddenly came downstairs.

He even shouted, “Why didn’t anyone wake me up?”

Bianca looked at Wesley’s hurried appearance and could not help but say, “Timothy mentioned that you stayed up late reading last night. He went to wake you up but couldn’t do so. But aren’t you usually at home most of the time? You only go to the hospital when there are major surgeries. Why are you in such a hurry now?”

However, Wesley said, “Well, of course, it’s because I want to go to the hospital to work.”

He was a department director after all. It was just that he relied on the favoritism of the hospital director and preferred not to work regular hours at the hospital.

“Work?” Bianca said. She thought she had misheard.

“Don’t you dislike working as an attending physician in the consultation room?” Bianca said. “Hasn’t the hospital also tacitly agreed that they will only call you in for difficult surgeries?”

Wesley suddenly looked at Sophie and said, “Even a genius like you is so humble. I can’t be so arrogant anymore. From today onward, I want to go back to work and be a good doctor.”

As he spoke, Wesley had already sat at the dining table. He picked up the tableware and started eating heartily.

Sophie looked at Wesley helplessly and sighed. “Wesley… you have the right to be proud,” she said. “Don’t change because of me.”

However, Wesley shook his head as he ate. He said, “No… I read traditional medicine books for a long time last night and realized that traditional medicine is much more tedious than modern medicine. I don’t even know how you managed to grasp it. You have more rights to be proud than me… I have to work hard. Since I can’t master traditional medicine, I have to improve my skills in modern medicine.”

He thought, ‘Geniuses are all proud. Sophie is self–taught, and she can actually cure her own paralysis. I’ve studied hard for so long. Even though I’ve performed many well–known surgeries, I still haven’t been able to ensure that a paralyzed person can stand up again.”

Therefore, his self–esteem did not allow him to continue being in a state of decline.

Sophie could also tell at this moment.

She thought, ‘Wesley is probably stimulated by me… That’s why he suddenly became determined to make progress.”

“Alright then,” Sophie said. “Give it your best shot…”

Wesley nodded, then quickly finished his meal, put on his clothes, and left.

As Bianca watched Wesley leave, she could not help but smile. “Sophie, don’t take offense,” she said. “Your third brother has always been competitive since childhood. Although he didn’t say it directly, he must have been stimulated by you. You have no idea how much effort he put into studying modern medicine since childhood, but you surpassed him subsequently. And you’re so humble. He’s ashamed because he is inferior to you. That’s why he wants to make a change.”

A mother knew her son best. Blanca understood her son,

At this moment, Sophie also understood that Wesley was just thin–skinned and could not allow himself to lose to her….

She thought, ‘Actually, he probably hasn’t thought it through. The fields of traditional medicine and modern medicine are inherently different. He is good at clinical medicine, while traditional medicine is good at regulation. It is only when the two fields are combined is the outcome the best. So, the two of us are currently on equal footing. Wesley is really overthinking things

this

Seeing that Sophie felt a little guilty for stimulating Wesley, Bianca smiled and said. “Don’t bother about him. Actually, is good too. Mr. Jackson actually values him very much and wants to promote him to be the hospital director. However, Wesley previously thought that dealing with the cases of the patients that the hospital received every day was child’s play. He could not be bothered to go and was only interested in difficult surgeries. Mr. Jackson has been frustrated as Wesley fails to meet his expectations, but there’s nothing he can do. Unexpectedly, because of your appearance, Wesley actually goes back. This is also a good thing.”

It was only then that Sophie heaved a sigh of relief. She teased, “As long as it’s good for Wesley, I think it’s worth stimulating him.”

“That’s right,” Blanca said, laughing along.

The mother and daughter chatted and laughed, leaving Evelyn sidelined. She could only force a smile,

She felt an indescribable sense of jealousy.

But now, she could only swallow all her grievances.

Breakfast was finally over.

The butler came to report. “Miss Sophie, Mr. Roger is here to pick you up,” he said. “The car is outside the gate.”

Sophie did not expect him to come so quickly. She hurriedly said, “Alright. Tell him to wait for me. I’ll go change into an

outfit.”

With that, Sophie hurriedly went upstairs.

Soon, she changed into a different outfit and came downstairs.

She quickly walked to the doorway, intending to put on her shoes, sling her handbag over her shoulder, and leave.

Unexpectedly, Evelyn stood at the doorway like a servant and even handed her the handbag, saying, “Sophie, slow down.”

Sophie frowned but did not say much. “Thanks, she said.

With that, she stepped out of the foyer.

Unexpectedly, Evelyn actually followed her.

Sophie had no choice but to stop and ask, “Why are you following me?”

Upon being questioned, Evelyn immediately replied aggrievedly. “Didn’t Mr. Roger say yesterday that he wanted me to be your attendant from now on? Doesn’t that mean that I’ll follow you wherever you go?”

Sophie frowned.

She thought. Is Evelyn deliberately trying to disgust me?‘

However, at this moment, Roger wound down the window and suddenly said, “Your attendant is quite competent.”

After being mocked by Roger, Evelyn’s expression changed a little, showing impatience. However, she still smiled and said, “Mr. Roger, I naturally have to remember what you said.”

Seeing her acting in a pretentious manner, Sophie lost some patience.

“There’s no need to come along,” she said. “You just stay at home. I’m going to the Nicholls family’s home. It’s not convenient to bring you along.”

Seeing this situation, Evelyn did not say much. “Alright,” she said. “I won’t go then. Just come back early.”

Seeing that she finally stopped following, Sophie opened the car door and got in.

“Drive off,” Roger instructed Dillon.

The next moment, the car from the Nicholls family was driven straight out.

Watching them leave, Evelyn’s eyes were gloomy.

She thought, ‘Hmph. I knew it. Sophie won’t readily bring me to the Nicholls family’s home. But it’s okay. I can go there by

myself…”

While she was thinking, she took out the phone that she had taken from Sophie’s handbag earlier.

“Now, I have a reason, right?” she said.

She smiled faintly. Then, she asked the driver to take her to the Nicholls family’s home.

Meanwhile, Sophie was sitting in the car, finding it a bit odd no matter how she thought about it.

“What got into Evelyn just now?” she said. “She actually wanted to go to the Nicholls family’s home with me?”

Roger snorted and said, “Perhaps she’s just putting on an act for me. She’s afraid that I’ll cause trouble for her again.”

Sophie nodded slightly and said, “That’s possible. Otherwise, why would she insist on following me?”

Chapter 104

Roger smiled faintly and said, “I hope she has truly learned her lesson,”

Sophie let out a long sigh and said, “Let’s hope so.”

However, she still felt that something was amiss.

Soon, the car returned to the Nicholls family’s home.

In front of the gate of the Nicholls family’s home, the servants were still lined up in two rows, respectfully welcoming their

return.

After entering, Sophie could not help but say, “I’ve got to say that as the leader of the ten great families, the Dawson family’s grandeur is not as elaborate as the Nicholls family’s.”
