Rejected Little Secret by Lisj Chapter 53

Chapter 53

“I made it clear that I wanted nothing with that, thank you!”

As I turn towards the source of the rising voice, my heart sinks when I see Nadia standing there, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, her face twisted in anger and disgust. She looks sickly, pale, her features contorted with rage.

I watch as a member of Blackacre approaches her with a skewer of rabbit meat, offering it to her with a kind smile. But Nadia’s reaction is anything but grateful. She pushes the skewer away violently, her voice filled with venom

“While the people from Blackacre may have stomachs capable of withstanding strong germs, others such as me are not as fortunate. Being from Thorholde, where people have discerning tastes, I would rather avoid consuming that food and compromising my palate.”

The Blackacre member tries

tries to reassure her, explaining in a calm voice.

“But… the meat we have is fresh from a successful hunt, carefully prepared and ready to be enjoyed.”

But Nadia’s voice drowned out their words, its intensity growing with each passing moment. With each passing moment, her mask of fake kindness disintegrates, exposing the intense fury and bitter resentment that lie beneath.

Nadia’s outburst fills me with a mix of frustration and helplessness, washing over me like a tidal wave. It’s evident that her frustration goes beyond just the food or the person who offered it to her. Her rage is driven by something deeper, something darker that lies beneath the surface. But what that is, eludes my understanding, like a riddle with no answer.

As I look at Axel, standing nearby, I can see the worry on her face, reflecting my own concerns. We both know that Nadia’s behavior is far from normal, and it’s only adding to the tension and unease that already hangs over our group like a dark cloud.

Just as I was lost in my thoughts, Nadia’s voice cuts through the silence, yanking me out of my reverie. As she screamed, her words pierced the air with a sharpness that left a lingering chill. Anger flashes in her eyes, making them wild, while her trembling hands forcefully reject the well–meaning gesture.

“Are you unable to hear or simply lacking intelligence? Didn’t I explicitly ask you to give me some space?! I have no knowledge whatsoever about the steps you took to prepare that meat or the means by which you obtained it. What if everything you said was false, huh?! What reason do I have to believe someone who has no connection to my pack?!”

As I watch in silence, the Blackacre member instinctively steps back, clearly caught off guard by Nadia’s outburst. As they looked around at the others. nearby, concern filled their eyes, realizing that nobody knew how to respond to the overwhelming hostility. I shake my head in frustration as I approach her, but before I can reach her, Axel forcefully grabs my wrist, halting my progress.

“What?” I deadpanned, not allowing any hint of emotion to show, as Axel continued to stare at me. “I’m confused. You were the one who told me to confront her, but now you’re intervening. Why?”

“Listen, I know I said it, but she’s pissed and so are you. Maya, nothing productive will come from fighting fire with fire. I guess I should be the one talking to her.”

appreciate it, Axel, but let me deal with the bitch.”

The situation had become unbearable, and I couldn’t endure it any further.

The intensity of Nadia’s outburst was at its peak, and I could sense my frustration bubbling up within me, like a kettle about to whistle. Acting on instinct, 1 stormed towards her without any hesitation, my heart racing in my chest as I firmly grasped her arm and swiftly pulled her away from the group.

Nadia fought against me, attempting to push me away, but I remained steadfast, holding onto her with all my strength.

“Calm down, Nadia,” Angel filled my voice as I snapped, the sharpness evident. “You’re being an embarrassment.

Chapter 53

My words left Nadia in shock, her eyes widening in disbelief as she gasped. For a moment, she stayed silent, her breaths coming in short, ragged gasps as she struggled to compose herself. I led her to a hidden nook beneath the trees, where the sounds of rustling leaves and chirping birds provided a tranquil backdrop.

I turned to face her, and the intensity in my gaze was palpable as we stood alone together.

“Don’t make such a big deal out of it,” Glaring at her, I crossed my arms firmly against my chest, my words leaving no room for dou Returning my glare, Nadia’s face twisted into a sour grimace, as if she had just bitten into a lemon. “Knock it off, no need to make a scene. You can either eat or starve, it’s your call?

Nadia’s reaction was immediate – her body tensed, and her face grew flushed with anger.

“You don’t understand,” Her voice trembled with emotion as she shot back her response. “I don’t feel like eating, so quit pushing me. Who do you think you are, huh? You can’t boss me around!”

I clenched my jaw, feeling the tension radiating through my entire body as I fought to keep my anger in check.

“You’re being ridiculous,” My patience wore thin, and I snapped, my fingers clenching tightly as I massaged my temples. “You need to eat, Nadia. Seriously, we’re in the middle of nowhere and you’re acting like a little kid. The Blackacre pack went out of their way to give us meals, but you’re treating them with unwarranted suspicion, as if they’re dangerous criminals.”

With defiance blazing in her eyes, Nadia’s lips tightened into a thin line as she shot me a piercing glare. Frustrated, she vigorously shook her head, stomping her foot to emphasize her anger, and flipping her hair dramatically.

“I said I don’t want to eat,” she spat, her voice dripping with venom. “So why don’t you just leave me alone?”

Right when I was on the verge of losing control, a strong arm wrapped around my shoulder, preventing me from falling into the depths of my anger. As I turned, Axton greeted me with a comforting smile, his mere presence providing a much–needed respite from the palpable tension in the air.

“Hey there,” As Axton leaned in, his lips brushed against my ear, his voice a soft and soothing melody. “Don’t let her mess up your day, okay? I got this.”

I closed my eyes and breathed deeply, attempting to find solace amidst the tempest of emotions inside me.

“I’m trying, Axton,” I replied, my voice barely a whisper, as I stole a glance at Nadia, who was now glaring at us with a mixture of disbelief and anger. “But she’s making it really hard.”

With a nod of understanding, Axton’s eyes shifted quickly from me to Nadia, silently acknowledging the tension between us. Then he grins, and waves his hand dismissively up at the air towards Nadia.

“I apologize, Nadia, if you felt like you had no choice but to come here. But you have the freedom to do whatever you desire. Remember, this is not a place of captivity – you have the freedom to do as you wish.”

Nadia let out a bitter laugh, the sound laced with a hint of resentment.

“Easy for you to say,” she muttered under her breath. “No matter where I am, if I’m not with Zeke or back in Thornholde, I’ll always feel like a fucking prisoner.”
