Submitting To My Ex-Wife by Daisy Woods Chapter 1

“Let’s divorce,” Marc Males said in his usual cold tone. Her husband of three years was never a talker.

Pearl Woolery stood behind Marc, gazing at his tall figure, and his cold, stern face reflected on the floor–to–ceiling window. Pearl’s heart sank. Her hands clenched tightly. She trembled.

What Pearl feared most had finally come.

Marc turned around. He had a handsome face. Pearl was still mesmerized by him now.

“Can we not?” Pearl forced the words out of her throat, her eyes filled with a flicker of despair but also a glimmer of hope.

Marc frowned. He looked at Pearl coldly, noticing her reddened eyes. His frown deepened.

Pearl was beautiful. She wasn’t eye–catching, but she looked innocent and pure. Her large, pleading eyes were fixed on him. She had a mole near the corner of her right eye and long, straight hair.

In Marc’s eyes, Pearl was reticent and submissive. There was nothing wrong with her. Marc simply didn’t love her.

Marc had a car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down three years ago. The doctors said he might never stand again. Marc was forced to separate from his beloved then. His mother made him marry a doctor who could care for him. Marc chose a nurse from the list of admirers. Because Pearl not only had no background but was also quiet.

“I’ll give you two million dollars for caring for me.” There was no affection in Marc’s eyes. “Or would you like something else…”

For the first time, Pearl interrupted Marc, “Why?” With her red eyes, she asked with a hint of determination and unwillingness, “Why do you have to bring up it now?”

Tomorrow was their third wedding anniversary. Pearl had made plans. She had hoped they could have many such anniversaries in their lives.

Marc’s reply was cold and indifferent, destroying her hopes. “You know I don’t love you. Clarissa is back. I’m gonna marry her.”

Pearl was dumbstruck. Her slender figure swayed. Indeed, the woman he loved the most had returned, and she was still staying here. Pearl had tirelessly guarded their marriage for three years, only to be defeated by his

beloved’s return.

“Mr. Males.” The butler rushed in and reported, “Miss Santos threw up again. She even coughed blood.”

Marc finally showed some emotions. He walked past Pearl to the guest room, ordering, “Ready the car for the hospital.”

Soon, Marc emerged from the guest room carrying a frail woman. Clarissa Santos had a thin figure and looked weak. She was covered with a blanket knitted by Pearl. Her face was pale and sickly. Nestled in Marc’s arms, Clarissa whispered, “Marc, Miss Shepard…”

Marc paused at the stairs. He told Pearl, “The lawyer will discuss the divorce with you. You’ve three days to move

out.” With that, Marc left with Clarissa.

Clarissa shot her a triumphant look. An hour ago, Clarissa grinned at Pearl and told her, “I moved in. You might

as well return him to me.”

When they disappeared, Pearl collapsed to the ground, drained. Tears flowed down her cheeks as she hugged

herself. She felt cold.

It had been ten years. Since Marc rescued her from hell, Pearl had quietly observed and loved him. How many decades does one have in a lifetime? But love is just that. Since Marc didn’t love her, nothing she did could change that.

“This is the last time I’m crying for you, Marc.” Pearl wiped away her tears and stood up. She was no longer delicate and fragile. Her gaze was cold and resolute. She thought it was time to leave.

The divorce agreement was placed conspicuously on the bedside table in the master bedroom. Pearl flipped to the last page and saw the familiar signature. Her gaze flickered, and she delicately traced Marc’s name. She sniffed and held back her tears. Then she picked up a pen and signed her name. It was all over now.

Pearl placed a gold pendant on the bedside table. It took her nearly a year to design and carve the pendant herself. It was the gift she had prepared for tomorrow.

Pearl had given Marc many gifts over the years, each meticulously prepared. Unfortunately, they were either unused or thrown away. He just didn’t like her.

A black luxury car stopped by the roadside when Pearl left the mansion. She got in and said calmly, “I’m divorced.”

The man behind the wheel, wearing dark sunglasses, smirked. “Congratulations on regaining your freedom.” He handed a laptop to Pearl. “It’s time to be yourself again. We’re all waiting for you.”
