Pearl listened to Manfred’s confession without any emotional fluctuations. Only when Manfred grabbed her hand did her brow furrow slightly, and she quickly withdrew her hand from his palm.
She suppressed the nausea rising in her chest and asked Manfred expressionlessly, “Since you had known about the deed committed by Tina, why didn’t you report her to the police?”
Manfred blinked nervously when he was questioned. He defended himself quickly, “I was deceived by her appearance! I was kept in the dark for three years and thought you really had fallen off the cliff. You have no idea how sad I was when I thought you were ‘dead.‘ I even suffered from depression and had to see a therapist. Tina took advantage of my longing for you and came to me, lying to me and getting me to sleep with her…
As he said that, the alarm clock rang, scaring him out of his wits.
Pearl picked up her phone and turned off the alarm, saying nonchalantly, “Time’s up. You can leave now.”
Manfred was greatly startled.
He didn’t expect that after spending two days and nights organizing his “self–defense” and “emotional confession” with great difficulty, he still couldn’t move Pearl.
He thought that without having to finish speaking, Pearl would forgive him for everything and then cry and throw herself into his arms after being moved by him. After that, he thought that he could win the beauty successfully.
“So, what’s the situation now? What went wrong?” he wondered.
“Pearl!” Manfred got anxious, clutching Pearl’s hand suddenly. “Don’t you believe me? I can swear that every word I say is true!”
Pearl shrugged off his hand coldly, feeling as if she had caught a flea just by his slightest touch. The urge to crush him overwhelmed her.
She put away her phone and saved the recorded audio before looking at Manfred with undisguised disgust.

“Since you have already slept with her, you are a dirty man now. Do not appear in front of me again. It’s gross. However, you and Tina seem to be a good match. Love is blind. Wish you guys the best of luck.”
Manfred was completely dumbfounded by Pearl’s attitude. He was dragged out like a stray dog by the security guards. His mind hadn’t even fully recovered from the shock.
It was not until he was dragged to the gates of Woolery Group that he woke up belatedly, kicking his legs and shouting, “Pearl, you have to believe me. I love you!”
Just as Marc got out of the car and took a few steps toward the entrance of Woolery Group, he saw a man being thrown out like a stray dog by the security guard. He quickly dodged out of the way.
His eyebrows furrowed. “Is the Pearl referring to Pearl Woolery?” he said inwardly.
Pearl was standing in front of the sink and scrubbing the areas on her body that Manfred had touched repeatedly with soap carefully and meticulously, fearing bacterial contamination.
After washing her hands, she sprayed some air freshener and ordered her assistant to remove the chair that Manfred had sat on and replace it with a new one. The areas tainted by Manfred were simply making her feel uncomfortable.
Finally, the office was clean.
Sitting on her new chair, Pearl looked at the latest submitted proposal.
The administrative assistant knocked on the door and said, “Ms. Woolery, the receptionist said that there is Mr. Males downstairs who would like to see you. However, he did not make an appointment. Would you…”
Pearl’s long and curly eyelashes flickered slightly, and her eyes that were focusing on the proposal blurred for a moment.
After three seconds of silence, she replied, “Tell him that I’m busy and can’t meet him.”
The notification was promptly received by the receptionist.
Hanging up the phone, the receptionist put on a smile. “I’m sorry. Ms. Woolery is quite

the moment and doesn’t have time to meet with guests. Sir, you can make an appointment in advance.”
The last sentence was a benefit she gave to Marc just because she was captivated by his perfect and handsome face.
“What? She doesn’t have time?”
Being Marc’s special assistant for so long, Thomas had never been snubbed before. He could not tolerate such humiliation and walked up coldly, saying, “Do you even know who Mr. Males is? Is this how you dismiss us?”
The receptionist’s face turned pale with fright as she trembled, saying, “I know that this gentleman is not an ordinary person, but no one dared to disobey Ms. Woolery’s orders. The administrative assistant knocked on the CEO’s office door again and asked nervously, “Ms. Woolery, Mr. Males downstairs wishes to schedule an appointment. He was wondering when you might be available.”
Vice President Samuel was discussing the proposal with Pearl. Seeing Pearl frown, he immediately turned to the administrative assistant and said, “What’s wrong with you? Can’t you even handle such a small matter like scheduling appointments?”
“Sorry, Ms. Woolery.” The administrative assistant bowed and apologized quickly, cursing her troublemaking younger sister inwardly.
Pearl squinted her eyes and said mercilessly, “Tell him to wait until the next life.

After waiting patiently downstairs for quite a while, the response Marc got was “the next
life.”
Marc never had a good temperament. His face darkened immediately upon hearing this
“You are way out of line!” Thomas exclaimed, slamming the table in frustration
