The Alpha’s Obsession with his Ex-Contract Luna Chapter 42

“Tom, we agreed not to contact each other until everything was done,” Charlotte said as she hid in her room to receive the call.

Her heart thumped loudly, and she feared someone might hear it. What was Tom thinking to call her when they had agreed that all the calls would be done by her?

“I haven’t had any updates, and you promised to call me every other day. None of that has happened as well,” Tom responded from the other end of the line, jealousy lacing his tone.

He had eyes on Charlotte, and they had been dating since she was in college in New York. After graduation, she returned to her pack briefly to visit her parents.

There she met Alpha Nick, who was visiting due to pack business, and they were tied together by the mate bond. Alpha Nick whisked her to his pack instantly, intending to mark and claim her, but Charlotte’s heart was already

With how obsessed Alpha Nick was with her, she feared rejecting him, as Tom suggested, so she eloped on her wedding day to save herself the trouble.

Before then, she had single–handedly planned the whole event to not create any suspicions and to make it seem

that she was kidnapped.

Things were not so rosy with Tom as she expected. Challenges knocked on their door from every angle. They also couldn’t legally marry because of the mate bond.

When Charlotte perceived that more hardship was headed Tom’s way, she suggested returning to Alpha Nick to extort money to support Tom’s business. The latter agreed, cautioning her to not mate with him or get marked, but that was exactly what she had in mind.

“I’ve been busy. Things are not as simple as we planned. I need to work harder,” Charlotte said.

Tom was unamused by what he was hearing, knowing how obsessed Nick was with his mate. Tom and Nick had been childhood friends, growing to the level of best friends before Tom left for New York City.

Due to their businesses, they hadn’t met in two years but had been in contact through the phone. Without time, Tom ensured to cut all contacts with Alpha Nick for Charlotte’s sake.

“Alpha Nick has refused to share the same room as me,” Charlotte complained in a bitter tone. Tom was happy but worried as to why Charlotte seemed depressed about it when that was their plan all along.

“Isn’t that a good thing? The agreement was to have access to the pack’s treasury to transfer the money into the account number I gave you. By the time they find out, we would have withdrawn it and escaped. They won’t be able to find us.”

Charlotte had no desire to go to the end of the problem. All she wanted was to use the money to pay off Tom to

have a peaceful relationship with her mate.

“I don’t have access to the pack treasury until I become Luna,” she said..

There was silence at the end of the line. Tom was weighing his options. “Then just forget everything and come back. I’m already working on some partnerships, and they seem positive. Business would pick up as soon as the contract is signed. If you allow him to mark you, then it’s over between us.”

Charlotte was secretly excited with that option. That was all she wanted. To be marked by Alpha Nick to break things off with Tom, but it would not be sensible to reveal it to him.

“How do you expect to survive after all those losses?” She asked. If those were not dealt with, she was certain no company would want to merge with theirs.

“I will find a way, but stick to the plan.”

“But…” Charlotte was about to argue, but her continuous resistance struck something in Tom, and he asked,

“Wait, are you in love with him?” There was a slight rage in his tone. Tom was the Beta of the Lotus Pack before leaving the position to start a business in New York City. After meeting Charlotte and falling in love with her, the desire to return to his former position was no longer there.

Sensing that Tom would cause problems for her, Charlotte quickly refused. “No. I just want us to have enough. He was ready to give half of the pack to Sheila,” Charlotte revealed, planting a seed of greed in Tom.

“Did she take it?” Tom asked with interest, as he couldn’t help envying his best friend for achieving so much and being generous with it.

“No, and that is why I want it,” Charlotte sparked the greed further, and Tom was falling for it and would lay low

for her to accomplish her mission.

“Half of the pack is a whole lot of billions,” Tom analyzed roughly over the phone, and Charlotte was excited by

his interest.

“That’s what I’m talking about.”

“It seems that my best friend’s wealth keeps multiplying every day,” he remarked, seemingly amazed.

“Well, the pack is richer than six months ago,” Charlotte leveraged, encouraging him the more. Tom agreed that Charlotte had to stay longer, but why leave her alone with her mate? They might just complete the process, and he would lose the only woman he loved.

“Alright I’m coming to visit. I want to know just how he is able to make it.”

Charlotte’s heart sank. Things were not working as planned, as Tom’s presence would ruin everything for her.

“No need to come here.”

“Why? You don’t want to see me?” Tom asked, slightly disappointed but there was amusement in his tone. Charlotte was perplexed, not knowing how to explain it to him.

“It’s not that. We have to get the money before creating any suspicions,” she revealed in a bid to discourage him,

but Tom did not seem like someone who would back down.

“Come on, I’ll just stay for a few days to attend the gala awards with you.”

Charlotte’s breath hitched, and her breathing grew erratic. “You are coming?” She wanted all the attention to be on her and Alpha Nick, but with Tom’s presence, she feared it wasn’t going to happen.

“Yes. Aren’t you happy?” He asked worriedly. Since he called now, the details mattered to him, as he knew better

than to not call again.

“But Alpha Nick already promised to go with me.”

“That’s understandable, but I don’t want to miss it,” Tom stated, and Charlotte sighed.

“Then why don’t you go to your pack?” She suggested, only to receive another shocking news.

“I’m already there. I’m closer to you than you think.”

Charlotte was not liking this. If Alpha Nick caught a whiff of her relationship with Tom, she would be done for. “Then just stay there.”

“No. Not until I mark you. Just get the money and reject him. I can’t wait any longer,” Tom said, and Charlotte was having a headache. She had to think of a way to get rid of him for good.

“I need more time.”

“Time is a luxury I can’t afford,” he retorted. Charlotte paled instantly. There has to be a way. Before she spoke another word, her door swung open.

“Who are you talking to?” Alpha Nick questioned by the door, the color drained from her face. “Nick.”

Please use the back door so he doesn’t see you. He is quite sensitive so don’t let him catch your scent.” Seated on the curvy kitchen stool, her most trusted friend, Goldie, felt an inexplicable pain in her chest. “Why should you be afraid of your husband? You even call him by his title.”
