As Sheila contemplated how to take a day off to attend the gala awards, another announcement caused the color to drain from her face. “Send the invitations out. She might as well find a suitor.”
Sheila was in a trance, at a loss for words. The Alpha King’s family was known for having some of the most attractive men and women, but none of them had found their mates at eighteen.
They all had to wait a year or more to find their mates. In Sheila’s case, she had waited for five years and was still waiting, just like Goldie, who had been waiting for four years.
The queen was an epitome of beauty. Even after having eight children, she was still gorgeous in her middle age, despite her Alpha being ten years older than her. It was clear that Sheila had inherited her mother’s beautiful
features.
However, her mother was only devoted to the pack, whereas Sheila was more adventurous and talented.
Not wanting to anger her father after such a wonderful reunion, Sheila spoke politely, “Papa, what about the mate bond?” Sheila reminded her father. He smiled at her and responded,
“My dear Sherry, how can you tell whether your mate will not be among the guests?”
Her father had not neglected the mate bond at all. In fact, he was hoping that she would find her mate among the guests at the party. But Sheila was trying to find a way to make it to the gala awards.
If she was able to showcase her designs, she was sure to attract a lot of influential customers for their pack businesses, which would be another great source of income.
“But Papa, there shall be a gala award at the Illuminant hotel in four days. What if I find my mate there?” She asked, trying to make it seem that her plans were in line with that of her father.
The truth was, Sheila had lost hope in finding her mate. All she wanted to do now was turn the pack businesses
around.
“Then the welcome party will become a coronation ceremony if you so find your mate. You are already 23 and should be as worried as I am. Let’s go inside and celebrate,” the Alpha King responded, not ready to call off the welcome party.

Sheila sighed. Having parties at such short intervals was going to be really stressful for her, but since her father declared it, there was nothing she could do about it. Being the best at both occasions was her only priority as she would be representing the Moonshine pack.
Sheila no longer concentrated on her personal business throughout the few days of waiting for the gala awards, being immersed in taking over the pack business. Her brothers needed a break.
It was a day before the gala awards when Goldie asked her, “He’s going to find you out. What will you
do?”
She was referring to Alpha Nick, knowing that Sheila didn’t want him to find out about her real identity. Sheila shrugged. “I don’t know him. The woman he married was Sheila Thorax. I’m Sheridan Warner.”
Goldie smiled approvingly as an idea formed in her mind. “I think I will make you up to look a little different.”
Sheila did not refuse but could not help feeling that Goldie had forgotten a very important part of tomorrow’s event. “Are you not forgetting something?”
“I don’t think I could forget anything.” Goldie assured her, but Sheila was skeptical, feeling that Goldie did not understand her question.
“Then where is he?” She asked straightforwardly, referring to the man she wanted arranged to be her fake date) at the party. Goldie maintained her smile as she knew what Sheila was talking about from the onset.
“Don’t worry. You will meet him at the gala awards.”
Sheila could not help but trust her judgment since there was no other option for her. There was no way she would be allowed to leave the pack and no way for her to find a replacement if Goldie failed her.

Trusting blindly was her only option at the moment. But there was also another advantage safeguarding this
arrangement.
“I think that is fair. Papa doesn’t have to know about him, but why is everybody concerned about me? You haven’t found your mate too,” Sheila pointed out. Goldie was internally troubled but maintained a calm smile.
“That’s because they have given up. I’ve been through all the packs and had a similar party.” As the senior beta’s daughter, Goldie had had the party inviting capable men from across all packs, but her mate was not among
them.
“What about the Dark Moon pack?” Sheila asked. She hadn’t heard of a party for the beta’s daughter throughout

“I’ve been there too,” Goldie mused. Sheila frowned a little, trying to remember. Oh, the few times Goldie visited her secretly at the packhouse, but she hardly ever met anybody except the few bodyguards who usually accompanied Alpha Nick during his travels.
“But in hiding. Let’s find a way for you to visit. You might find your mate there unless he’s dead,” Sheila said seriously. Goldie thought carefully.
She wanted her mate, but after recalling what Sheila had been through in that packhouse, she didn’t foresee herself being there.
Even if i
find my mate there, I will reject him because of what they did to you.”
Sheila was speechless. “Don’t say that. I chose to be that to get Alpha Nick, except that it didn’t work out. The dust has cleared from my eyes, and I’ve seen him for who he is. I no longer feel the same way I felt for him before.”
At the Dark Moon pack, Alpha Nick was also preparing for the gala awards night. He was there to bid for some businesses. However, he wasn’t able to get over Sheila’s mysterious disappearance.
Beta Dustin had arrived because of Nick’s absence from the pack with Charlotte tomorrow, “Dustin, I need you to do something urgent for me,” Alpha Nick said after summoning Beta Dustin to his office during his arrival.
“Anything for my Alpha,” Beta Dustin smiled, being in a good mood. However, his mood dampened when he heard of Alpha Nick’s request.
“I want to know Sheila’s whereabouts. You were about to find Charlotte. I would like you to find Sheila by every
means.”
