Chapter 1
“Harder, Nathaniel”
My feet came to a halt when I heard a very familiar voice moaning Nathaniel’s name, my own fiance, the one with whom I am getting married today!
“Ahhh!”
My feet took me in the direction of the moans as they became louder and I stopped at the doors of the room, which was supposed to be ours for the night.
My fingers trembled as I pushed open the door slightly and my eyes widened to the point of coming out of their sockets when I found my fiance f ucking my cousin sister on the same bed where we were supposed to consummate our wedding tonight.
“You are so good, Nathaniel” she moaned as he thrust into her at inhuman speed. “I envy Vanessa that she got you.”
Since childhood, Olivia has always had her eyes on everything I have, but I didn’t know that she would also take away my fiance.
“Don’t worry, darling. I will still love you the same even after the wedding,” he said, kissing her forehead as he grunted loudly.
I could not believe what I was seeing and I had to practically press my palms tightly against my lips to stop myself from making any sounds.
How could they?
Nathaniel told me that he loves me, how could he do this with my own cousin sister?
Suddenly, he stopped moving, and I stepped aside before they could see me.
“G od! You left the door open.”
Olivia pointed it out and I just ran away before any of them could come to close the doors.

I was running as if being chased by a ghost when suddenly I collided with my uncle, the father of Olivia, the one who took care of me after the death of my parents.
“Is everything fine, Vanessa?” He asked me out of concern, “Why are you looking so pale? What happened?”
What shall I tell him that I saw my fiance and his daughter f u cking each other?
I fought back tears, determined to hold them at bay. I could feel my ears turning red and my whole body shaking
with the scene that I had just witnessed.
“What are you doi
doing here?” I heard Aunt say from behind, “You are needed outside.”
Her expression shifted to that of anger as soon as she saw me, which was not new to me.
“And you, young lady! There is only one hour left until your wedding, and you’re not even finished with your hair and makeup!” She scolded me sharply.
“Sabrina, please go easy on her. Can’t you see, she is looking scared” Uncle interrupted
“Go out, I will take care of her,” Aunt said in a stern voice.
Though my uncle has always taken care of me, he couldn’t go against Aunt because her tongue is very sharp, and he never wanted to create any issues.
Uncle gave me one last look before walking away. Auntie’s attention was once again on me.
“Now, will you tell me what happened? Or is this just another one of your tricks to seek attention and sympathy from your uncle?” She questioned, her voice dripping with venom.
“I am nervous.”
I couldn’t muster enough courage to tell her the truth because I knew that she loved her daughter blindly and would never trust me.
“Is it possible that we could shift the wedding date?” My voice didn’t come out as confident as I thought
“Have you lost your mind, girl?” My aunt’s reaction was just as I had feared. “You want to call off the wedding just because of nerves?” Her tone grew louder with each word. “Do you have any idea how much your uncle has spent on this wedding? Yet, you, always the ungrateful one, never cared for him!”

I looked down as the tears started pr icking my eyes. This is not true!
My parents’ insurance had provided more than enough, and they hadn’t even spent a quarter of it on my education and wedding.
“Stop your melodrama and go, get ready. You have one hour”
She led me and pushed me into the room where I was supposed to get ready. With a heavy heart, I sat on the chair while the attendees worked on my face.
After the death of my parents, I was looking forward to a partner who could love me and cherish me the way 1
am.
I was so excited about my wedding because I was finally getting someone but now I couldn’t fathom spending my life with a betrayer.
“Ma’am you are done,” The attendees said as they stepped back.
I always wanted to see myself in a bridal dress but at the moment I didn’t spare even a single look in the mirror because it reminded me of my cheating fiance.
“Aww, my Vanessa,” Uncle entered the room. “You are looking like a doll,” he kissed my forehead
I forced a smile for him.
“Come, let me fulfill my final duty and escort you down the aisle where your fiance is waiting for you, eagerly,” he said, taking my hand.
My breath caught in my throat when he made me stand. I wasn’t left with any other option than to walk without him. The guests were in awe as they saw me, they whispered about how beautiful I was looking, as if an Angel herself had descended from heaven.
My eyes
flicked to Olivia and then to my fiance and my blood boiled in my veins.
Uncle escorted me to the aisle and Nathaniel helped me climb up with a wide grin on his face. My skin burned at the place he touched me. They are the same hands with which he was touching Oliver an hour ago.
“You are looking exactly like my dream girl,” he murmured but I didn’t react to him.

My heart was thudding loudly in my chest. Nathaniel’s words felt like needles in my ears, and his overly jubilant smile was the most repugnant sight in the world to me.
“Do you, Nathaniel Devlin, accept Vanessa Harper as your wife?” The priest asked.
“I do,” he said, looking at me.
How could he have the audacity to look into my eyes after doing all that? I am not sure how many times he must have done that before coming to meet me.
The audience erupted into applause and cheers, but my head turned to Uncle, who stood there with glistening tears in his eyes. He was the only one in the crowd who was genuinely happy for me. But he wasn’t aware of the true face of my fiance and maybe he also wouldn’t have believed me if I told him the truth about his daughter.
Aunt just wants to get rid of me and let’s not talk about Olivia.
“Do you, Venessa Harper, accept Nathaniel Devlin as your husband?” The priest asked me.
I was supposed to say ‘yes’ and this is what every guest present here was expecting from me. My uncle was also looking forward to the same.
I closed my eyes for a moment to cut out the world and make my own decision. The silence around me
contrasted with the storm within me. I could hear the moans and grunts of Olivia and Nathaniel ringing in my ear on a loop.
Making up my mind, I opened my eyes and said what I must at that moment,
“I don’t!”
