The announcement from the butler brought a sparkle to Charlotte’s eyes. Her twentieth birthday was just three days away, and The Sterling had been preparing for days.
Having Alexander attend would be a great honor for both her and The Sterling family.
This news somewhat alleviated
Charlotte’s resentment, but by the time
she turned around, Isabella had
already gone upstairs.
Three days later, the venue for
Charlotte’s birthday party was set at an Ascot Group hotel, with The Sterling family booking an entire banquet hall for the occasion.

her.
Isabella arrived fashionably late, wearing the pale yellow dress
Alexander had given her–after all, it was the best piece of clothing she had.
The murmurs started immediately among the attendees.
“Look at Isabella, knowing it’s her sister’s birthday and still deliberately arriving so late. She doesn’t care about her sister at all, after all The Sterling family has done for her.”
“She even dares to wear the same dress as her sister. She’s just a copycat. That dress must be a knockoff. Wearing counterfeit clothes to such an event is just embarrassing.”
Isabella, not deaf to these whispers, chose to ignore them and found a seat.
As she did, the other guests at her table promptly moved away.

From a distance, Charlotte waved at her with a smile plastered on her face.
‘Sister, why are you sitting over there? Come join us.
Her tone was as sweet as her harmless
appearance.
Isabella, feeling resigned, made her way over, only for Charlotte to link arms with her, feigning sisterly
affection.
“Sister, I’m so sorry. I only just found out today is also your birthday. I didn’t have time to prepare a gift for you. How about this, you can pick a few from the gifts I received today…”
Isabella could sense Charlotte’s true intentions–this woman always seemed to find ways to belittle her.
“No need.”
Isabella replied flatly, shrugging off Charlotte’s hand to leave.

Just as comparisons were being
whispered among the crowd, someone

The previously quiet hall erupted in excitement, all eyes turning towards
