Matilda was displeased.
“Mikayla, you own shares in Minito. Why aren’t you more attentive to the company’s
affairs? A successful deal would benefit you, too!”
“How can I let Mikayla go to Jerome with such matters?” Eduard spoke up.
“In the eyes of others, the Davidson family is already considered prestigious. If you keep bothering him, how can Mikayla navigate through this?”
Matilda expressed her grievances, “Dad, you also know how difficult it is to do business
now. We couldn’t secure a meeting with Fanell. But they have dealings with the Millers. If Jerome gets involved, we can definitely make progress!”
“There must be a reason they refuse to meet. Instead of finding a solution yourselves, you force Mikayla to approach Jerome. How is that acceptable?”
“But…”
“Enough, don’t say another word. Handle the situation yourselves. You can’t put Mikayla in such a difficult position.”
Eduard issued a direct order.
Mikayla felt touched. Regardless of the situation, her grandfather always stood up for her.
“Aunt Matilda, Grandpa is right. We can’t rely on Jerome for everything. So, I really can’t
help with this favor.”
Matilda felt frustrated but reluctantly fell silent.
After all, Mikayla was Jerome’s wife, and her grandfather always sided with her.
If she stirred up trouble, she would be the one to lose out.
“Grandpa, I’m leaving. Please take care of the matter we discussed.”
After saying this, Mikayla left the hall.
“Dad, what did Mikayla talk to you about?”
Matilda was somewhat anxious.
Mikayla had already received a considerable number of shares from Jerome. Matilda thought that she couldn’t possibly want more.
Those shares belonged to their family!
Eduard understood Matilda’s concerns and shook his head.
“Kay isn’t as greedy as you think. Tomorrow, have Jordan come back.”
Mikayla drove steadily back to Dragoncrest Villa.
Jerome’s usual car was already parked in the garage, indicating he had returned.
In the past, she eagerly awaited his return every day, but he was often reluctant to come
home.
Now, when she didn’t want him around daily, he was more punctual than she was.
It seemed difficult for Mikayla to find contentment.
As she entered the hall, Amy approached.
“Madam, Mr. Miller has a fever. The doctor came to examine him, and he’s resting upstairs
now.”
Mikayla nodded.
“Oh.”
At noon, Mikayla noticed Jerome had a fever. It appeared serious enough to warrant a
doctor’s attention.
Mikayla changed her shoes and headed upstairs without heeding Amy’s hesitant
expression.
Upon entering the room, Mikayla kicked off her slippers and casually dropped her bag.
She unfastened her lingerie from the neckline with practiced ease and forcefully tossed it
onto the bed.
“Ah!”
At the exact moment, as her discarded lingerie landed on the bed, Mikayla realized someone was sitting on it.
It was Jerome.
Her reflexes triggered a high–pitched scream. A second later, she watched Jerome remove the fallen lingerie from his head.
Jerome’s fingers lifted the black lingerie. He revealed a clear, ambiguous, and somewhat
shameful expression.
You, you, you! Pervert!”
Mikayla felt both embarrassed and angry. She rushed over to snatch it back.
As she approached, Jerome lifted his hand, making Mikayla miss her target.
She extended her arm desperately to grab it.
Mikayla succeeded. But before she could hide it, he grabbed her waist.
It was presumptuous of Jerome.
