Chapter 39

Five

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been feeble and vulnerable. A fragile Omega struggling to survive in this harsh world. I’ve been mistreated and abused, but now there is something inside of me that’s bringing a change -power. Magic. Strength.

I’m awakening, and I couldn’t be happier, I swear I’m on cloud nine as I follow my two mates inside a coffee shop. Eric and Logan are both concerned about my sudden rise to power, but I’m excited.

Why aren’t they celebrating with me? This is great news! I can feel the magic stirring inside of me and growing, growing and growing! It’s a wonderful power that courses through my veins like liquid ice and then runs out into my fingertips.

I feel powerful.

“Five,” Eric whisper–yells over the table. It’s just us since Logan is getting our orders further away. “Five,” he repeats, louder this time. I look at him, and he frowns. “Stop using your magic. Someone could notice that you have powers!”

I arch an eyebrow, about to tell him that I’m not using my magic, but before I get a word out of my mouth, the table begins to freeze over. Cold shock spreads across my palm and out through my fingertips.

And I can’t stop it.

First, one layer of frost settles on the surface of the table, then another until every inch of the table has been swallowed by ice. I gasp and shoot backward into my seat, eyes widening at what I just did.

“Holy shit,” I whisper and lift my hands, staring at them with frightened yes. “Did I just…did I just do that?”

Eric leans in, his eyes intense. “Yes, Five. You just did that. You need to control your powers before someone else sees, and the wrong people come after you.” He takes my hand and squeezes it softly. “Try to calm down. Think happy thoughts. It’s what I do in order not to eat anyone.”

I can’t help but giggle at that. “A hybrid thing?”

He grins back. “A hybrid thing, yeah.”

Logan returns with the coffee and notices the ice on the table. “What happened?” he asks, concern etched on his

face.

“It’s me,” I whisper, feeling a pang of fear in my chest. “I couldn’t control it.”

Logan places his hand on my shoulder, sending warm, calming energy through my body by just being here. “It’s okay, Five. As your mates, we will help you.”

My lips form a grateful smile. My mates are wonderful, and I feel safe with them. But deep down, the fear lingers. What if I can’t control my powers? What if I hurt someone? I love my magic, but I’m already starting to realize that these powers come with consequences.

If only there were someone who could teach me how to use magic in the pack. Maybe there is? I could ask around after Eric, Logan, and I are back from our trip. But for now, I shouldn’t worry too much about it. The time on this paradise island is to bond with the brothers, not think about things at home.

And that’s what I do. I focus on the now and fall into conversation with the brothers. We laugh, drink coffee, and order some food before making it to the beach.

The sun is shining up in the sky, and the cool breeze feels good against my skin. I close my eyes and take a deep breath while lying on top of my towel, feeling at peace with myself.

This is the life.

I’m in absolute heaven until I hear giggling noises. I open my eyes and notice that many girls are flirting with Eric and Logan a few feet away, where they are polishing their rental surfing boards.

I sit up, feeling uncomfortable at the sight. Eric and Logan are mine, and I can’t help the possessive feeling that wells up inside me at the thought of losing them. I stand up and walk towards them, squaring my shoulders as I approach.

“Hey,” I say, giving them both a pointed look at the girls behind them. “What’s going on here?”

Logan grins at me, his eyes bright with amusement. “Oh, hello there, Five! Have you changed your mind? Do you want to surf with us?”

I’m baffled at how quickly Logan and Eric changed their attention to me. They don’t care one bit about the girls and seem to just have eyes for me. It makes me relax a little. Maybe they weren’t flirting?

I mean, why would they? They are my mates. Yet, despite that fact, I can’t help the feeling of jealousy that twists

in my stomach when I see other flirt with them. I know they love me, but the thought of losing them still

terrifies me. Ugh, what’s wrong with me?

I brush off my irrational thoughts and smile at my mates, “Surfing with you guys sounds great!” I say, trying to shift the focus away from the girls.

“Awesome!” Eric exclaims, handing me a surfboard. “Let’s do this!”

We paddle out into the ocean, and I can feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins. The water is cool and refreshing, and I feel alive. I’ve never felt so free before in my life. I feel like I could do anything.

I catch a wave, and Eric cheers me on from behind. I laugh with joy, feeling all my worries wash away. I want this moment to last forever.

Logan paddles up beside me and takes my hand, looking into my eyes with love and adoration. “You’re amazing,” he whispers in a voice so full of emotion that it brings tears to my eyes.

“Thank you,” I whisper back, smiling through the tears that are now falling down my cheeks. “I’m glad I came out here with you guys. It’s beautiful here.”

“Oh, Five. Are we getting sentimental?” Eric glides up to us gracefully, his dark eyes locking onto mine.

I smile at him and give him a gentle nod. “Yes, and don’t mock me! It’s truly breathtaking out here – any person would get overwhelmed with emotion.”

Eric chuckles softly. “You’re the one who is gorgeous, Five. Stunning, actually.”

I feel my cheeks heat up as Eric compliments me. I glance towards Logan, who is watching us with an amused. expression on his face.

“You guys want to keep flirting out here or head back to the hotel?” Logan asks.

Eric and I both laugh at Logan’s question.

“Come on, let’s go back to the hotel,” Eric says, grinning. “I’m starving, and we have all–exclusive, which means. lots of food. Surfing always makes me hungry.”

We paddle back to shore and pack up our things. As we make our way back to the hotel, I can’t help but feel

grateful for my mates and the life I have. Despite the fact that my magic scares me, I know that I have Eric and Logan by my side to help me control it. And for that, I feel truly blessed.

As we enter our hotel room, I feel a sense of contentment wash over me. The room is decorated with tropical flowers, and the scent of the ocean fills the air. Logan and Eric approach me from behind and wrap their arms around me, holding me close.

“I love you,” Logan says, kissing the top of my head.

“We both do,” Eric adds, kissing my cheek..

I turn to face them both, feeling my heart swell with love and happiness. “I love you both, too,” I say, tears of joy streaming down my face. “So much.”

We hug for what feels like an eternity before Eric pulls away. He kisses my forehead and then puts his hands on his hips. “Now, let’s order some food! I’m starving!”

Logan and I laugh as we make our way to the phone to dial for room service. We order a variety of dishes – from steak and roasted vegetables to sushi and fried rice – and settle in front of the TV for a romantic night.

As we are watching Lucifer, Eric shudders. “Ugh, there is way too much chili in my food,” he looks longingly at Logan’s plate and reaches out his hand. “Let me have some of your fries.”

Logan pulls away his food from his brother. “Hey! Back off! This is my food!”

“But I’m starving, and your food is better!” Eric whines.

Logan growls when his brother tries to steal from him and moves further away on the couch. I’m sitting between them, and yet they are still fighting. Then, when Eric finally manages to steal a fry from his brother, Logant slumps his shoulders and growls even louder.

“You’re acting like a fucking girl who claimed she didn’t want any food on your date before stealing your fries – it’s so fucking cringe, man. Why didn’t you order your own fries?!” Logan barks at Eric.

Eric’s mouth is stuffed with fries, yet he chooses to answer his brother right away. “I don’t care if it’s cringe because…damn…these fries are good! Here, let me have some more of those!”

Logan shakes his head and moves the plate away from Eric. “Nope, I’m not gonna let you have any more of

mine!”

Turning to me, he asks, “Five, can you please tell him to stop? He is starving me!”

I look between the two brothers and smile. Even after all these years, they still act like children sometimes. I shake my head while laughing and say, “Sorry, boys, but this is a battle that only you two can solve.”

Eric and Logan both grumble before settling back on the couch and continuing to watch the show. I can’t help but smile at their antics. They may act immature sometimes, but they always find a way to make me laugh.

After the episode ends, Logan gets up and stretches, his muscles rippling under his skin. “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m tired. I’m going to bed.”

Eric nods in agreement. “Yeah, same here. Let’s call it a night.”

I yawn and stretch, feeling the exhaustion wash over me. “Goodnight, guys,” I say, giving each of them a kiss on

the cheek.

As I crawl into bed, my thoughts wander back to the girls on the beach earlier. I know my mates love me, but the possessive feeling still lingers. It’s something that I need to work on, but for now, I’m just grateful for the love we

share.

I close my eyes and drift off to sleep, feeling content and secure in the arms of my mates. I won’t figure out my magic abilities today, and maybe not even tomorrow, but…soon enough, I bet my life will fall into place.

They are cruel and relentless, so Five doesn’t understand her deep attraction toward them.
