Back in Time: Unshackling From Love Chapter 136

Chapter 136

Two walters entered while carrying trays,

Perhaps they were concerned that the dishes would get cold, so they covered them with lids.

Mike watched them serve the dishes and said, “You must all be hungry. Let’s start the meal. They are all simple dishes. I hope you’ll like them.”

“Your dishes have been served. Please enjoy.”

After the waiter finished speaking, he opened the lids.

Baldwin and his two assistants exchanged glances when they saw the cucumber feast. Mike was equally surprised. He didn’t understand why everything he ordered turned into cucumbers.

When he received Jerome’s cold glare, he couldn’t help but panic and asked the waiter, “What’s going on? I didn’t order thesel”

The waiter claimed he knew nothing and had simply served the food as per the orders, Hel immediately called for the manager,

Jerome’s expression darkened when he heard the manager say that a woman in the main hall who claimed to be his wife went to the kitchen to change the menu.

Mike was secretly relieved when he heard that, assuming Mikayla was angry with Jerome for some reason and pulling a prank. He didn’t make any mistakes.

He apologized to Baldwin and his assistants before asking the manager to serve their actual order.

While Baldwin and his assistants were surprised, they also sensed there might be a reason behind the incident, so they didn’t cast any blame.

Jerome excused himself and strode into the main hall. He frowned when he noticed a familiar figure seated in the corner.

Mikayla had her hair casually tied up in a small bun. She savored a rib.

A man was sitting beside her. It was Taylor. Unlike Mikayla, he seemed less interested in the food and more engrossed in his phone.

Jerome’s expression turned colder as he approached them. “Why are you two here together?

Mikayla blissfully indulged in her meal until a chilling male voice interrupted her.

The familiar voice startled her, causing her to drop the rib onto the plate with a loud clatter.

Seeing the stern Jerome, she ignored the rib and glared at Taylor as she remembered something.

It turned out that Taylor’s target was Jerome. He had insisted on dragging her along for a new

project inspection, manipulating her into going to the kitchen to change the menu, and unwittingly using her against Jerome.

Using this method to prank Jerome seemed rather childish on his part.

Jerome, observing Mikayla’s expression, seemed to have figured out what was going on.

He glared at Taylor coldly. “Mr. Blue, why did you bring my wife here?”

Taylor looked puzzled. “This place is open to the public. We just came here to eat. Is there any problem?”

“Yes, it is.” Jerome snorted. “Changing our dishes to cucumbers must be your idea!”

Taylor responded frankly, “I heard you’re interested in Professor Xander’s latest research results. Since I can’t get involved, I decided to add some chaos to your day!”

He also added regretfully, shifting the blame, “Professor Xander wasn’t scared away by your cheap food. Also, it was your wife who had ordered the staff to change your dishes. If you have a problem, take it up with her.”
