Chapter 146
The box didn’t look like it contained jewelry. Instead, it seemed like it held some kind of
ornament.
Mikayla walked over to it and then opened it. Inside the box was a particularly delicate and beautiful rabbit–shaped table lamp.
It was made of crystal, and its eyes were adorned with red gemstones. When she pressed the switch, the rabbit’s body emitted a soft white light while its eyes glowed a light red. It was beautiful and unique.
She soon recalled that she had reached out to touch the rabbit–shaped string lights at the restaurant the other night. Did Jerome give this to her because he had guessed that she liked rabbits?
Although Mikayla didn’t want to accept anything from Jerome, the rabbit was so adorable
that it would be a pity to throw it away.
So, she put it on the bedside table.
She was exhausted from the training that afternoon, so she took a long and comfortable
bath.
When she came out of the bathroom, Amy informed her that dinner was ready.
Mikayla wrapped her hair in a towel and prepared to go downstairs, wearing a set of
comfortable clothes.
Jerome also happened to come out of the study just then. He looked at her outfit and glanced at her face several times.
She glared at him nonchalantly. “What are you looking at? Haven’t you ever seen a woman
without makeup?”
After saying that, she walked off and went downstairs in her slippers.
Mikayla usually didn’t wear any makeup at home. She only put on makeup when she went
out. Her outfit also wasn’t as exquisite and perfect as usual.
Jerome had seen her without makeup before, but he had never seen her wearing such an outfit after taking a bath/
Her skin was rosy and delicate, and with the pink towel in her hair, she looked indescribably charming and Innocent.
Jerome just felt an inexplicable urge to pinch her cheeks.
Downstairs, Mikayla couldn’t wait to eat. She drank the soup with a spoon in her right hand and grabbed a chicken drumstick with her left hand.
She ate happily and praised, “Amy, the food you cook is getting more and more delicious! You’re reaching the level of a professional chef!”
Amy smiled with joy. “Madam, you’re just too hungry after exercising this afternoon. That’s why you find everything so delicious.”
“But the food you make is indeed delicious! I don’t accept any objections!” Mikayla took a sip of the soup before adding, “When I leave, you can come with me and continue to cook,
for me!”
“Madam, where are you going?” Amy asked in confusion. “Are you and Mr. Miller planning
to move?”
She had never taken Mikayla’s comments about divorce seriously.
Jerome happened to enter the room just then. Mikayla didn’t want to argue with him during such a happy time, so she said perfunctorily, “I just said it casually. Amy, why don’t you
take a seat and join us?”
Amy glanced at Jerome and shook her head. “No, Madam. I’ll head back to the kitchen now.
Jerome was naturally unapproachable. Amy would feel awkward sitting there with him, so Mikayla didn’t insist.
“Mikayla, when will you stop talking about getting a divorce?” Jerome asked, staring at her. “Grandma will interfere with us and destroy the divorce agreement again. Do you still want
to make trouble?”
When she heard that, Mikayla wasn’t upset like before, and she didn’t bother to argue with him. She just ate her food and ignored him.
“You said that you didn’t want to bind me with marriage anymore and wanted to give me freedom. Since I’m the one who’s trapped in this marriage, shouldn’t I be the one to initiate
the divorce?” Jerome asked again.
This was what he had overheard the last time she had a video call with Celeste.
Mikayla raised her head. “As long as the outcome is what we want, it doesn’t matter who

“Did I say I wanted this outcome?” Jerome asked calmly.
Of course. In the previous life, he was the one who had brought the divorce agreement fo her and asked her to sign it.
After drinking all the soup in the bowl, Mikayla answered, “You have no feelings for me. Last time, when I asked if you were reluctant to divorce, you said no. Why has that changed?”
“Marriage is already stressful enough. I don’t want to worry about the divorce issues again, since I’m already so busy every day.
“I don’t want outsiders to speculate and question the reasons for my divorce, and I don’t want to make Grandma unhappy because of this.”
